Joan Broerman writes for all ages.

She has sold short stories, articles, poems and photos to magazines and newspapers, including Highlights for Children, Pockets, Southern Lady, and Children�s Writer. Her by-line has appeared in more than a dozen books on the craft and business of writing for children.

Author of WEEKEND GETAWAYS IN ALABAMA (Pelican), she speaks about writing at schools, bookstores, libraries, service organizations and writers� conferences across the southeast. She developed and presents an interactive wordshop series, "We Love to Write," for young authors from kindergarten through high school.

A graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, she is a member of the Society of Children�s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), the Authors Guild, American Library Association, International Reading Association, National Council for History Education, and the National Council of Teachers of English. She has been an instructor for the Institute of Children�s Literature, taught creative writing in a private school, K-12, and served as a writer in residence in an elementary school. Named SCBWI Member of the Year, she is now a Regional Advisor Emerita for Southern Breeze, an SCBWI region made up of Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi.
